Think you know all about it?

Would you ever choose to hurt yourself on purpose?

Think of a really painful or stressful time in your life that you would never want to relive.

Imagine it plays over and over, through feelings, or jagged memories, or in some way, inside of you, everyday.

How would you deal?

Eating disorders are not chosen, at least, not by those who aren't 'pro anorexic'.

They start innocently as a way to cope with stress, or sadness, something overwhelming that just multiplies until you feel you might explode.

They lie to you, and make you see yourself as something you're not..fat..a monster..ugly.

They numb you from pain, they give you something else to focus on. It isn't just about looking 'hot' or being able to fit into a certain size, at least, not deep inside.

Eating disorders can hit without warning, and before you know it, you can't get out.

They AREN'T chosen. Just like cancer isn't.

They are both something that is just set off inside of you for whatever reason. NO, I'm not saying they are the SAME.

Do me, and the rest of those with an eating disorder a favor...before you minimize, try to humiliate, or put us down...

EDUCATE yourself..learn what they really are.

You are sadly mistaken if you really believe, they are chosen.
