Behind the mirror

I look at the reflection staring back at me.

Who is she,
with her sunken eyes,
her bony arms.

She is not me.
She looks so frail,
so sad...

Like she is lost,
in search of something.

She reaches her hand towards me,
and opens her mouth to speak.

...But all that comes out,
is a mere whisper.

The light around her begins to fade,
darkness sets in.

Her eyes do not leave mine...
A single tear rolls down her cheek.

I know she is afraid,
but I cannot reach her...

...I cannot hold onto her...
...I cannot reach her through the glass...

Suddenly, she is gone.
I let her down,
I lost her.

I didn't listen hard enough to what she tried to say.
She faded away...disappeared...
...and all because of me…
